Mod Risk of Rain 2 with AI: custom survivor reports
Last updated:
Two contributor notes marked working describe custom survivors and personal ports. This guide covers single-player modding only; the reported results are not independent tests by this site.
Arkham Knight Batman survivor
The Batman project used BepInEx + R2API with the HenryTutorial template for a melee survivor with combos, counters and gadgets. Its personal model and animation route used UE Viewer (umodel), Blender and a Unity AssetBundle with a Generic rig. This differs from fitting a model onto the existing Commando skeleton. The note records RoR2 1.4.1#912, Unity 2021.3.33f1, Steam build 21587608, Windows 11, and an Arkham Knight install at Steam build 13250859. Recorded tools include BepInExPack 5.4.2122, RoR2BepInExPack 1.43.0, R2API Core 5.3.0, .NET SDK 5.0.104, RiskOfRain2.GameLibs 1.4.1-r.0, UE Viewer build 1590, Blender 5.2.2 LTS and io_scene_psk_psa 9.1.3. An older loader profile was not reusable. Source: arkham-knight-batman-survivor.md.
Static checks validated references, clips and the bundle; game logs showed the real-model bundle loading without mod errors. The human reported the final reviewed build worked, but the agent did not review video or screenshots of its final animations. Detailed item interactions and some counter cases remained unchecked. Animations explode or sink by about 1 m.
Symptom → cause → reported fix: imported rig object scale and animation translation scale disagreed. Match the translation scale to whether the rig’s object scale has been applied; do not treat one scale factor as universal. Source: arkham-knight-batman-survivor.md.
Mod sounds are silent.
Symptom → cause → reported fix: Unity audio was disabled in the player. The project used vanilla Wwise events; the note also names compatible Wwise banks as an alternative. A normal Unity AudioSource did not solve this. Source: arkham-knight-batman-survivor.md.
NullReferenceException in vanilla on-hit code from your attack.
Symptom → cause → reported fix: a hand-built damage record lacked the hurtbox reference expected by vanilla readers. Populate the hit hurtbox and apply its damage modifier, following the existing attack implementations. Compilation alone did not check installed-game API compatibility; the note added a reflection check. Source: arkham-knight-batman-survivor.md.
Helldiver survivor on the Commando rig
This project added weapons, grenades, mobility and stratagem skills through BepInEx and R2API, using a separate lab copy of the game. An optional personal model set fit locally converted Helldivers 2 art onto Commando’s bones, with a cape and weapon IK. It used loose runtime model files instead of the Batman project’s Unity bundle route. Source: helldiver-survivor.md.
The Windows 11 report records 1.4.1#912, Unity 2021.3.33f1, BepInExPack 5.4.2122, RoR2BepInExPack 1.43.0, R2API ContentManagement 1.0.11 / Language 1.1.0 / Prefab 1.1.1, .NET SDK 8, ilspycmd 8.2, filediver 0.7.55 and Blender 4.0. A lab-only HookGenPatcher 1.2.9 enabled a test bridge. Scripted feature checks, screenshots, configuration changes and an A/B benchmark supplied real-game evidence. Other users’ r2modman setups remained unverified. Source: helldiver-survivor.md.
Commando flashes for one frame on the character select.
Symptom → cause → reported fix: the skin system reapplied Commando’s model on loadout changes. Check and reapply the custom mesh/material each LateUpdate. The cape’s separate frame lag required running its bone reads after ModelLocator moved the model; extra renderers also had to be added back after each skin application. Source: helldiver-survivor.md.
Personal ports and asset boundaries
These are reported personal projects using the owner’s Arkham Knight or Helldivers 2 installation. The Batman note keeps converted visuals local; the Helldiver note separates personal model files from its code-only package. Game files and ripped assets must not be redistributed. This guide names tools but provides no asset-download links or extraction steps. Source: contribution hard rules.
How to start your own mod
Install Universal Modder, then use the engine-research template with your owned Risk of Rain 2 installation and exact version. Back up saves and configuration before changes; keep gameplay work single-player and use a separate test save. Adapt the port template for one small slice, then ask for an observable in-game test and a record of what remains unverified. These are planning templates, not promises that the reported mod will work on another setup. Source: README rules and Try it.
Read merge games with AI before choosing a port or simulation, and use troubleshooting to compare the exact symptom with a named report.
Frequently asked questions
Do both survivors use the same model route?
No. Batman uses a Unity AssetBundle and its own animations. The Helldiver model fits onto Commando's bones and loads from loose files.
Can I download the ported models here?
No. These are personal reports; game files and ripped assets must not be redistributed. This site provides source-note links, not asset downloads.
How was the working status checked?
Batman has static checks, load logs and a human gameplay report with omissions. Helldiver has scripted real-game feature tests, screenshots and a benchmark.
Does this guide cover multiplayer?
No. This guide supports single-player modding only, and neither report establishes tested multiplayer behavior.
